Explore different regions of Brazil on an intrepid faith-driven quest in Brazilian Adventures: Jungles, Caimans, Piranhas, and Gauchos by Dr. Tom Latham, where a lightning strike over the Atlantic leaves the travelers stranded, setting off the first conflict of their journey.

Shane Woods and friends expect excitement, but nothing prepares them for the dangers of the Amazon. Navigating piranha-filled rivers, deadly snakes, and apex predators such as caimans, they rely on the young guide Esterdo to learn survival skills. With prayer and Philippians 4:13—"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"—they share faith with tribes and draw spiritual strength as they encounter wild boars and more.

In Mossoró’s semi-desert heat and dangerous winds, the team rescues a drowning fisherman and then faces local Mafia and Spiritist groups, testing their courage and faith. Meanwhile, Harriet, an orangutan from Borneo, entertains locals and draws attention, creating chances for the team to share their faith.

In the southern Gaucho region, they encounter cowboy culture, wrestling, and missionary work. Facing dangers, they rely more on faith, growing from fear to confidence in God’s guidance. The journey teaches the team to become more courageous, showing how adversity transforms them.

Brazilian Adventures is a story of adventure and redemption, perfect for readers who enjoy danger, discovery, and faith. How would your faith guide you through unknown challenges?

SENIOR AUTHOR REVIEW    ★★★★★

I finished the Brazilian Adventures. 5/5 stars for sure.

Dr. Latham is a very good writer and can really spin a story and hold a reader's attention. I'm still having meltdowns about the bugs and tiny "critter" infestations - OMG!! The story is very well woven together - his writing style is excellent - very much like that of my favorite author, Mary Stewart (British author of many famous books, The Moon Spinners was made into a movie), and historical novels about Merlin the magician, etc. Mary always visited the country and got to know the people, customs, and even the "lay of the land" for her books.

Tom knows Brazil intimately, and his fiction is loaded with facts about the land, people, animals, and "scary critters."
