"Shane and the Buzzard Butte Poachers," the third book in the Shane Woods Series, centers on Shane and his friends uniting to stop poaching in Linn County, Oregon. This journey weaves together themes of friendship, faith, family, and adventure. All this helps Shane to grow as a Christian, wrestler, and active community member.

After their mother struggled with addiction and abandonment, Shane and his siblings, Kosy and Thomas, are living with their grandparents. When poachers threaten local wildlife and livestock, Marty, Erin, and Bowie join forces to stop them. Along the way, Kosy’s faith grows as she accepts Christ, and Shane learns to witness. Teamwork leads to dramatic action and the poachers' capture.

During a road trip, Shane jokes as a tour guide, pointing out landmarks like Cent-Wise Drug Store and teasing that Butterfingers are the last snack for 150 miles. The story follows Shane’s personal growth, budding friendship with Erin, and his interactions with Bowie’s Native American family during a trip to Eastern Oregon to attend a rodeo. Shane, Kosy, Erin, and Marty form a fan club to cheer Bowie on during his rodeo events, encouraging him and celebrating his victories. Bowie’s success at the rodeo shows his perseverance and his ability to overcome prejudice.

The story emphasizes that faith, family, and courage transform challenges into opportunities for growth. Through teamwork and adventure, Shane and his friends learn to stand up for what is right. This part of Shane's story ends with his commitment to faith and character as he enters high school.
